Introduction

BotSights ("we", "our", "us"), operated by NVD Online, provides bot analytics services at botsights.com. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our service.

Our role

BotSights acts as a data controller for your account information (name, email, billing). We act as a data processor for the website visitor data we analyze on your behalf. You remain the controller of your website's visitor data and are responsible for informing your visitors about analytics processing in your own privacy policy.

What we collect

Account information

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and company information you provide during onboarding. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google.

Payment information

Payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store credit card numbers or bank account details. Stripe's privacy policy applies to payment data.

Website visitor data (your site's visitors)

BotSights processes HTTP request data from your website to identify bot and crawler activity. For each visit we process:

  • URL visited
  • User agent string
  • IP address (anonymized for human visitors, last octet removed)
  • Country (derived from IP, IP is not stored for humans)
  • HTTP referer
  • Timestamp

We do not place cookies on your website visitors' browsers. We do not load JavaScript on your visitors' devices. We do not track individual human users across pages or sessions.

Bot visitor data

For identified bot visitors, we store the full IP address (bots do not have privacy expectations) along with the user agent, URL, and classification data.

How we use your data

  • To provide and improve the BotSights service
  • To identify and classify bot, crawler, and AI agent traffic
  • To generate analytics dashboards and insights for your account
  • To process payments and manage subscriptions
  • To send transactional emails (password reset, account notifications)
  • To communicate product updates if you opt in

Data sharing

We do not sell your data to third parties. We share data only with:

  • Supabase - database and authentication hosting
  • Vercel - application hosting
  • Stripe - payment processing
  • Resend - transactional email delivery
  • ipinfo - IP geolocation (IP address sent, country returned)

All service providers are bound by their own privacy policies and data processing agreements.

Data retention

Bot visit data is retained according to your subscription plan:

  • Free plan: 30 days
  • Pro plan: 12 months
  • Business plan: 24 months
  • Enterprise: custom retention

Account data is retained as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us.

Data accuracy

Bot classification and analytics data are provided on a best-effort basis. Data may be incomplete, delayed, or incorrectly classified due to technical limitations, evolving bot behavior, or factors beyond our control. BotSights should not be relied upon as the sole basis for security or business-critical decisions.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your account and data
  • Export your data (available in dashboard for paid plans)
  • Withdraw consent for optional communications

Cookies

BotSights uses essential cookies for authentication (keeping you logged in). We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics on botsights.com. We do not place any cookies on your website visitors' browsers.

Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), encrypted database storage, and role-based access controls. Authentication is handled by Supabase with row-level security policies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.
